Waste Strategy

Hanford Energy from waste plant.

All councils in Staffordshire have collaborated in a Waste Management Strategy to set out the strategic direction of local waste management for the forthcoming years. In 2007, a joint strategy was written incorporating basic recycling targets up to 2020. However, having undertaken the work to achieve these targets ahead of the 2020 deadline, a refreshed document was written in 2013 to create additional direction for the remaining years of the strategy.

Please find below the strategic documents for Staffordshire Waste Partnership councils;

  • 2007 Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy
  • 2007 JMWMS associated document – Strategic environmental assessment
  • 2013 refresh of the Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy
  • 2013 refreshed JMWMS associated document – Environmental appraisal assessment report

The 2013 refresh strategy is currently being approved by each council and will be adopted in April 2014.
